Clinical Preventive Services
Preventive Services in Medicare - Jud has worked tirelessly to ensure that seniors have access to preventive services proven to be effective. Over nearly fifteen years, Jud successfully advocated to enact three separate laws that expanded coverage of preventive services in Medicare, ultimately leading to coverage of all evidence-based preventive services with no co-pays or deductibles.
Preventing Heart Disease and Stroke - Under Jud’s leadership, Partnership for Prevention successfully petitioned the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to cover intensive behavioral therapy for cardiovascular disease for high-risk patients. The benefit covers counseling about diet, blood pressure, and aspirin use.
Adolescent Preventive Health Services - Jud managed an innovative collaboration between the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American Medical Association to raise awareness of the importance of high priority preventive services for adolescents.
Preventive Services for Women - Jud advised the Institute of Medicine and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on the criteria for determining which preventive services for women the Affordable Care Act should cover.
